What Volatility Means and How It Can Help You Choose an Online Slot Game

$

Picking an online slot isn’t only about choosing a theme and storyline that catches your attention. These might be the more exciting factors, but they’re not as important as looking at the slot’s volatility.

In a nutshell, a slot machine’s volatility tells you how risky the game is—and this is something all players should consider before depositing their stake!

This article will explore volatility and why it should be on your list. Whether new or trying to improve your payouts, you’ll find expert insights to help you level up your online casino time.

The Basics of Volatility

Top slot players always look at the volatility of a game before playing. Don’t worry if volatility means nothing to you, and we’ll explain what it is and why it counts now.

Every online slot has a low, medium, and high volatility rating. This shows you the game’s risk, with low slots being the most consistent and high slots being the most volatile and risky.

When you know the volatility rating, you can estimate how frequent the payouts are and how big the prizes usually are.

For example, low volatility slots don’t give our big prizes but provide somewhat consistent wins. In contrast, high volatility slots don’t pay out very often, but if you’re lucky and get one, it’ll be much larger than the small payouts from low slots. Medium slots sit in the middle of these two.

You can find information about slot volatility in the game’s description section, usually displayed as text under or by the side of the game. All reputable and safe casinos, like playcasino.co.za, will show this information. If missing, it’s usually a sign that the casino isn’t safe and perhaps not worth your time.

Alongside volatility, slot descriptions also show you the game’s developer and RTP, which brings us to our next section.

Volatility vs RTPs in Online Slots

Volatility and RTP sometimes get confused as they tell you about online slot game payouts. However, they’re not interchangeable:

  • Volatility describes the risk and payout probabilities in slots using low, medium, and high ratings.
  • RTP (also known as Return to Player percentage) shows the amount of your stake that will be returned to you over time. So, this shows your payout potential, not your risk.

Rather than with words, RTP is always shown as a percentage figure. Let’s look at the famous Big Bass Bonanza slot as an example. This slot has an average RTP of 96%, meaning that for every $100 you wager, you will get approximately $96 back.

You should always check the RTP and volatility of your chosen slot on your preferred casino. Sometimes, these statistics can vary, so it’s best to be sure and double-check.

Why Should You Think About Volatility When Choosing Slots

Volatility affects the slot machine experience and your potential winnings, so you must consider what you want and choose volatility that corresponds to your needs.

If you don’t consider this, you might end up having a less satisfying experience or risking more money than you initially wanted to.

Analyzing the Trends in Slot Game Themes and Designs

Being mindful of volatility is also a part of responsible gambling practices—actions that help to protect you and your finances while using online casinos. Other ways you can embrace safer gambling include:

  • setting a strict budget
  • only betting cash you can afford to lose
  • setting time limits on your sessions
  • stepping back when the game starts to feel impulsive or stressful.

In some cases, you may even want to reach out to safe gambling organizations for free and non-judgemental assistance. In South Africa, the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation (SARGF) offers confidential treatment and counseling and has 20 years of experience in the industry.

How To Choose the Right Slot Game

Now that you know what volatility means, it’s time to determine which type is right for you. Here’s a quick overview of each volatility level and who it suits best.

Low Volatility

If you’re new to online slots or would prefer consistent wins without much risk—even if they might be a little smaller—you should choose low-volatility slots.

Medium Volatility

Medium volatility slots provide larger payouts than low slots—but aren’t as frequent. They’re not as generous as high-volatility slots but pay a little more.

In short, medium slots bang in the middle. If you have some experience and don’t want the highest level of risk, this is a nice place to play.

High Volatility

High-volatility slots allow you to win the largest prizes, but the odds are higher, and these prizes aren’t very frequent.

So, if you don’t mind a little risk or have some prior gambling experience, you will feel comfortable with high-volatility games.

Do Other Casino Games Have Volatility Ratings?

Yes! Slots aren’t the only games with volatility ratings. You’ll also find these ratings on table games, progressive jackpot lotto games, and live casino games.

However, volatility isn’t as emphasized in these games, and it’s more of a focus in the slot community. This is simply because it doesn’t vary so much on other games.

Take blackjack, for example. Regardless of the variant, this game tends to have low volatility and smaller wins.

Now that you’ve got the lowdown on what volatility means, you can use it to find casino games in all genres to match your style. This can help you boost your bankroll and, in turn, improve your satisfaction.

Where Can You Find Legitimate Online Slot Games?

If you’re curious about implementing your new knowledge, you should find a slot with suitable volatility and get started. Make sure you choose a safe and legitimate casino so you know your personal and financial information is secure while you spin the reels.

Signs of a reputable casino include:

  • A legitimate licence and parent company information
  • 24/7 support via phone, live chat, or email
  • Games from top software companies (e.g., Playtech or Microgaming)
  • Positive player reviews
  • Expert reviews with safety information
  • A large range of real payment methods (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal)
  • Realistic bonuses that aren’t too good to be true

When a casino ticks the criteria above, you can play knowing you’re in capable hands if it doesn’t, check out a few alternatives to keep yourself safe.

Online Slot Machine Volatility—The Takeaway

Do you want lots of small wins? Or one big win that’ll knock your socks off? Whatever your style, studying slot volatility can help you achieve your goals.

Hopefully, this article served as a helpful introduction to the topic. Take time to learn for the best results and a more enjoyable experience. If in doubt, move on to the next game with better volatility and a reputable developer. Being safe is better than being sorry in the long run.

The news of the demise of Mathew Nyamlori on Monday, January 20, has left many Kenyans broken, after a courageous battle with Stage 3 gastric cancer.

The 40-year-old had been battling gastric cancer since 2022 and died while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

Nyamlori captured national attention for sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) nine times despite growing up in abject poverty which challenged his academic journey.

His first attempt was in 1998 when he scored 478 marks out of a possible 700 and was admitted to Kabianga High School. However, his parents could not afford the school fees, and he had no hope of joining high school.

Full of hope to pursue education, Nyamlori returned to class eight at Rongo Primary School in 1999, scoring 559 marks and securing an admission letter to Kanga High School.

His stay at the institution was, however, short-lived due to financial difficulties which forced him to drop out and start doing menial jobs to earn an income.

Perminus Wainaina: It took my business 3 years to make decent income

He later enrolled at Kitere Primary School for another attempt at education, scoring 387 marks, and received an admission letter to Rapogi High School but again could not secure funding for his studies, prompting him to return to class eight.

In 2003, he scored 399 marks at Sony Sugar Primary and was called to Rapogi High before making another impressive score of 434 marks at Rangwe Junior Academy which earned him admission at Maseno High School.

In 2008, as a candidate at Agoro Primary School, Nyamlori scored 397 marks and earned a place at Maranda High School. The following year, he scored 401 marks at Aldo Rebby Academy and was admitted to Kapsabet High.

In 2010 he took the national papers again at Agape Academy, scoring 401 marks and rejoining Maranda High before joining Oriri Primary the following year, where he scored 403 marks and received an admission letter to Nairobi School.

His ninth attempt at the age of 29, Nyamlori joined Nairobi School and completed his four-year studies, earning a B+ with 71 points, thanks to the Equity Bank’s Wings to Fly program.

His excellent performance earned him admission to Kenyatta University, where he pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration.

His life took a tragic turn in 2022, when he was diagnosed with gastric cancer which took his life three years later.

“I started having difficulty swallowing food. The doctors initially said it was H. pylori. However, it progressed, and I decided to undergo an endoscopy. I was subjected to numerous tests, and it was then that I was diagnosed with cancer,” Nyamlori shared in a past interview.

His treatment journey involved multiple surgeries and an extended stay in the Intensive Care Unit which piled medical bill to over Ksh1.2 million.

Donald Trump issued an executive order withdrawing the United States of America from the World Health Organization [WHO] moments after he was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

In the making the withdrawal, the CNN reported that the text by President Trump cited the “[WHO’s] mishandling of the [2020] pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, and other global health crises, its failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states.”

He has been critical of the WHO, and according to the CNN, has been uncomfortable over what he sees as the United States’ larger share of contribution to the global health body.

“Trump believes that America was paying too much money to the organization compared to other countries. The order also says that the WHO continues to demand unfairly onerous payments from the US,” the CNN reported.

The order withdrawing the US from the WHO will now see a process that could last one year that will eventually see the US pull away from the global health body. According to Lawrence Gostin, professor of law and global health at George Washington University and Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law & Human Rights, who spoke with ABC News, Trump will likely act as if he’s already withdrawn, disengaging from the WHO, and without bipartisan agreement from Congress to overturn Trump’s action, the WHO will officially lose its largest funder by 2026.

Kenyan-born American journalist and photographer Polly Irungu has announced her departure from the White House where she served former Vice President Kamala Harris as her official Photographer and Photo Editor.

Polly Irungu has been serving Kamala Harris for the last three years, since 2022, when she beat the odds to get selected as the first photo editor at the White House. The former Vice President had initially appointed her to document her ‘campaign story’.

In an emotional statement, Irungu reflected on the journey she had under the wings of the former Vice President, admitting it had never crossed her mind she’d serve in the highest office in the world.

“While I developed a love for visual storytelling and worked at McDonald’s in school to save up for my first camera, I never thought my passion would take me to The White House. After nearly 3 years, today was my last day. Thank you, Mr President, Adam and Lawrence,” she wrote hours before Trump was sworn in.

The good work she has managed to attain in her life can largely be attributed to her travelling exploits worldwide. Other than in Nairobi, she lived in both Kansas and Oregon, having arrived in the US at the age of 4.

She has studied at the University of Oregon and lived in New York City working as a digital content editor at the New York Public Radio. Irungu’s works shot to prominence in 2020 when she was featured in a Nasdaq campaign dubbed Amplifying Black Voices.

Later on she started an online directory of Black Women Photographers, with the aim of creating an online marketplace where people can find and hire black women photographers for jobs. Today, the group operates with more than 1,200 members from over 50 countries.

Some of its members have landed jobs with The New York Times and others with The Washington Post magazines.

President Trump effects orders affecting Kenya hours after inauguration

Shortly after becoming the 47th president of the United States, President Trump immediately began implementing his agenda by signing a series of executive orders to be effected immediately.

Among those issued, hours after being sworn in, Trump decreed a 90-day pause in foreign development assistance pending assessments of efficiencies and consistency with his foreign policies.

This decision is set to impact many countries, Kenya included, which depend on foreign aid from the United States.

“The foreign aid industry and bureaucracy are not aligned with American interests and in many cases antithetical to American values and serve to destabilise the world peace by promoting ideas in foreign countries that are directly inverse to harmonious and stable relations internal to and among countries,” he said.

“All department and agency heads responsible for United States foreign development assistance programs shall immediately pause new obligations and disbursements of development assistance funds…no further United States foreign assistance shall be disbursed in a manner that is not fully aligned with the foreign policy of the President of the United States,” reads the executive order.

White House neither clarified the countries that were affected nor the programs that were temporarily known. However, over the years it has been consistently known that Kenya is among the countries that receive substantial US foreign aid from international agencies such as USAID.

For example, the US Agency for International Development announced over $126 million in additional food assistance for Kenya in response to the severe drought. This was part of the broader effort where USAID had provided nearly $310 million in humanitarian assistance in 2022 alone.

At his inauguration speech, Trump ushered in his second term in what he referred to as the ‘Golden Age of America’.

Since taking power from former president Joe Biden, he has been on an executive order signing spree since taking power. Here are some of the other confirmed executive orders signed on day one:

  1. Trump has directed US Agencies to take emergency measures to reduce the cost of living
  2. Trump has halted the hiring of new IRS agents
  3. Trump officially withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accord
  4. Trump officially withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization
  5. Trump declared a national emergency at the southern border
  6. Trump started firing multiple immigration judges
  7. Trump signs an executive order designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations
  8. Trump seeks to officially change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America
  9. Trump signs order to end all Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs by the government within 60 days

Leading cold chain solutions provider Cold Solutions Kenya Limited has been awarded the prestigious LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) following an assessment of its temperature-controlled warehouses in Kenya, making it the only facility in Africa with this kind of certification and setting new standards in cold storage technology.

The company which set up its operations in Kenya only two years ago was awarded the coveted certification in the Gold category, the second top cluster in the certification criteria, after an evaluation of its facilities in Nairobi that met the global standards for green buildings.

LEED certification is an international rating system created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that evaluates the environmental performance of buildings and measures their sustainability. It prioritizes energy efficiency, sustainable materials, indoor environmental quality, and innovation.

This certification elevates Cold Solutions’ business operations to international standards. The facility is now classified as green, making it safe for human well-being, reduced environmental impact, and energy efficiency. The facility has already received certifications such as YUM!, FSSC 22000, World Health Organization Good Distribution Practice (GDP) the Pharmaceutical Poisons Board certification for storing food and pharmaceutical products, and now, LEED Gold certification.

Car window regulator problems and easy solutions

Commenting on this achievement, Azhar Rifai, Co-head of Cold Chain Strategy at ARCH Emerging Partners – the investment firm funding Cold Solutions operations in East Africa said: “We are extremely excited to be awarded this prestigious certification and being the only temperature-controlled warehouse in Africa to achieve this status is a vote of confidence on our business. Cold Solutions Kenya Limited continues to raise the bar in storage technology by applying innovation and embracing sustainability in its operations to enhance service delivery. I would like to thank the team for their dedication and efforts to ensure that the business meets all our sustainability and climate change goals in line with the UN SDGs on environmental responsibility and business environment operations.”

For an organization to obtain a LEED Gold certification, a point system called the LEED credit library is utilized to track the environmental aspects addressed by the LEED project. This entails reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and safeguarding the health and environment of the project's surroundings.
“Achieving LEED Gold certification proves a project’s sustainability with a dedication to environmental responsibility and human well-being.

For an organization to achieve LEED Gold or Platinum status, strict adherence to all components of the rating system is crucial. It also underscores the fact that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are minimized with efficient equipment, renewable energy solutions (solar Power), water reclamation, and Ammonia refrigeration hence supporting our clients in significantly reducing emissions” he added.

The LEED rating system operates on a point-based mechanism, evaluating sustainable systems and design elements employed in building projects. A maximum of 110 points can be awarded, enabling buildings to attain LEED certification and serve as beacons for future sustainable development.

The highest point is Platinum, which is achieved by attaining 80 points or more Each certification level signifies commendable attainment of prerequisites, such as reducing CO2 emissions, promoting environmental sustainability, enhancing energy efficiency, optimizing indoor air and environmental quality, improving energy performance, and prioritizing materials sustainability.

Following a competitive auditions process held in late 2024, the Festival will feature the Kaima Mwiti Quintet and Judah and the Tribe, a dynamic nine-piece Afro Jazz Band.

“Our ambition is to ensure that we continue to create a sustainable platform to showcase great jazz talent. Our auditions process attracted several new acts that prove that our ecosystem continues to grow as it supports the Kenyan creative economy,” said Wambui Collymore, Festival Director, BCIJF.

On their part, Judah and the Tribe are an 8 to 9-piece Afro-jazz band based in Nairobi, led by trumpeter and flugelhornist Judah Onesimus. The band endeavours to create a memorable and authentic musical experience, extensively exploring Kenyan rhythmic palettes and grooves in their music,

Specifically, the proceeds provide young adults with access to artistic expression and education which they are unable to access through traditional education systems.

Chinese companies to acquire Volkswagen factories in Germany

Chinese companies are eyeing the acquisition of Volkswagen factories in Germany. In what could mark China’s entry into the production of motor vehicles in Europe, the Chinese companies have expressed their interest following a scaling down of production that is being conducted by Volkswagen.

According to a report that appeared on Reuters, manufacturing cars in Germany for sale in Europe would allow China’s EV makers to avoid paying EU tariffs on electric cars that are imported from China.

“Buying a factory would allow China to build influence in Germany’s prized auto industry, home to some of the oldest and most prestigious car brands,” Reuters reported.

Second-hand 2018 Honda CRV vs Mazda CX-5: Which is value for money?

“Chinese companies have invested across a range of industries in Europe’s biggest economy, from telecommunications to robotics, but have yet to set up traditional car manufacturing there despite Mercedes-Benz having two large Chinese shareholders.”

Late last year, Volkswagen announced plans to close at least three factories in Germany, lay off tens of thousands of employees, and scale down operations at other facilities in Europe’s largest economy.

Although Volkswagen is the biggest auto maker in Europe, Reuters reports that it has suffered a fall in sales in the face of rising competition from Chinese companies.

The car maker is behind brands such as Porsche, Audi and Skoda. In nine months of 2024, Volkswagen delivered 6.52 million vehicles worldwide. This was however, down 2.8 per cent on the previous year (6.72 million vehicles)

Canada PM favourite to deport thousands of illegal immigrants

Conservatives Leader Pierre Poilievre who is expected to be the new Prime Minister of Canada through an upcoming election has announced that he will deport thousands of illegal immigrants once he takes over in an election that he is expected to win.

Pierre Poilievre says that there are at least 30,000 illegal immigrants who have already been issued with deportation letters by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) but continue to stay in the country illegally.

“There are between 20,000 and 500,000 people in Canada illegally. Then we know that there are 30,000 people who have been ordered deported but have not left. We know this for sure,” he said.

“We will track down the 30,000 people who have been ordered deported and I will have them deported from this country. They’ve been ordered deported; and these are people who are not eligible to be here. We will find them and we will deport them,” he said.

He added that he will also focus on correcting the asylum system, which he said has been heavily backlogged with mostly false refugee claims.

“We will have a rapid approach to treating these new and mostly false refugee claims. For example, I think we should signal that there will be what I call a last in, first out,” he said.

Canada ends standard issuing of multiple entry visit visa in new changes

This, according to Poilievre, will let people making false claims to try and stay that their cases will not be accepted. “For example, we have international students, they are not bad people but they are also not real refugees. They want to stay by abusing the refugee system and we have to treat their cases immediately so that they know it’s not worth it.”

Pierre Poilievre has also vowed to radically change the Canadian immigration system to suit what he terms as Canada-first agenda.

“We have to secure the borders so that there are no people coming illegally and then staying the fourteen days necessary in order to be eligible for a refugee application that can take years. We have to stop them from coming in,” he said.

Poilievre and his Conservative Party have dominated opinion polls since early 2024. Their dominance led to a revolt within the ruling Liberal Party that saw current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announce that he will step down as Prime Minister and Liberal Party leader.

John Ouma: Farming is not just about planting and waiting for crops to grow

John Ouma a farmer in Rachuonyo North Sub County, in Homa Bay County, has defied the odds to establish a successful fruit farm.

His lush fruit garden hosts all kinds of fruits, including bananas, mangoes, paw paws, oranges, and avocados.

“I knew from the beginning that agriculture was the only way to secure a future for my family. I wake up every morning, not just to tend to my crops, but to ensure that my children have a future they can rely on. Without agriculture, we wouldn’t have food, and we certainly wouldn’t be able to make a living,” he said as quoted by Farmers Trend.

Ouma’s journey into farming began more than a decade ago when he made the conscious decision to invest his family’s land in agriculture. At the time, the idea of fruit farming wasn’t widely embraced in his village, as many believed food crops like maize and beans were the only viable options for subsistence farming.

However, he saw an opportunity in fruit cultivation and decided to take a different path. He started by planting mangoes, paw paws, oranges and avocados.

These fruits, he knew, would not only feed his family but also provide him with a steady income if he could master the art of fruit farming.

The farmer, however, admits that the journey has not been a walk in the park given the multiple challenges including bad seeds, unpredictable weather patterns, pests, and diseases.

“I knew there would be struggles ahead, but I believed in the potential of fruit farming…It was a gamble at first, but one that I was willing to take. I wanted to build a future that was sustainable, where my children wouldn’t have to rely on buying food from the market or migrating to urban centres in search of employment.”

One of the ways he protects his produce from being wiped out by pests is through organic farming where he uses natural fertilizers, compost, and crop rotation.

Organic farming further protects his produce from harmful chemicals ensuring the fruits he sells are safe for consumption.

“I believe that we have a responsibility to take care of the environment. We cannot keep using harmful chemicals that pollute the land and the water. Organic farming may take longer, but in the long run, it’s better for everyone – my family, my community, and the planet,” Ouma adds.

With the advancing technology, Ouma is eyeing modern technology to expand the land under cultivation, further boosting his income.

One of the ways he plans to do this is by introducing new irrigation systems that would allow him to grow more fruits throughout the year, even during dry spells.

“I have been researching different irrigation methods and have started to experiment with drip irrigation. It’s more efficient and will help me produce more fruit, even in the dry season. This is the future of farming,” he says.

Ouma also plans to explore other technological tools, such as weather forecasting apps and farm management software, to help him make more informed decisions about planting and harvesting times.

“I’ve learned that farming is not just about planting and waiting for crops to grow; it’s about understanding your land, your crops, and the climate. It’s about being in tune with nature,” he explains.

Standard Chartered 2025 outlook: Kenya and Africa’s resilience

$

Standard Chartered Bank 2025 Global Market Outlook highlights key global and regional economic trends. Despite a projected slowdown in global growth to 3.1% from 3.2% in 2024, Africa and Kenya are expected to remain key drivers of resilience and innovation, supported by strategic investments, sectoral diversification, and proactive fiscal policies.
Africa’s growing economic significance, with several countries leading the way in 2025. Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ethiopia are forecasted to achieve some of the continent’s strongest growth rates, driven by industrial expansion, infrastructure development, and hydrocarbon production.
Investment momentum across Africa continues to strengthen, with infrastructure projects and industrial initiatives attracting foreign, domestic, and public-private partnerships. Resilience in key sectors, such as Botswana’s diamond industry, Côte d’Ivoire’s hydrocarbons, and Mauritius’s tourism, highlights the continent’s ability to adapt and thrive in a complex global environment.
Kenya, East Africa’s innovation hub, is expected to play a pivotal role in Africa’s economic progress. With a GDP growth forecast of 4.7% in 2025, Kenya is leveraging advancements in digital technology, energy, and transport infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity and trade. These efforts position the country as a leader in economic transformation, underpinned by sound fiscal and monetary policies.
Despite these positive developments, Kenya faces fiscal consolidation challenges as the IMF program concludes in April 2025. The country’s debt-to-GDP ratio, currently at 72.4%, underscores the need for sustained fiscal reforms to manage deficits, projected at 4.8% for FY25 and 4.6% for FY26. Improved inflation management, supported by a stable Kenyan Shilling and lower oil prices, is expected to drive inflation down to 4.7% in 2025, creating room for potential monetary policy easing.
Paul Njoki, Head of Wealth and Affluent Banking, Kenya and East Africa, said, “Kenya’s commitment to innovation and investment in wealth continues to create a resilient foundation for growth. As we navigate a complex global environment, Standard Chartered is dedicated to supporting clients in achieving their financial goals.”
Globally, the economic outlook for 2025 reflects significant challenges and opportunities. In the US, President Trump’s “America First” policies are expected to drive inflation and boost domestic growth, with US equities projected to outperform other regions. Europe, however, continues to grapple with economic fragility, as Germany and France face recession risks amid rising energy costs and renewed trade tensions. In Asia, China’s economy is forecast to grow at 4.5%, supported by government stimulus aimed at mitigating the impact of US tariffs.
Strategic investments in global equities, gold, and high-yield bonds are expected to present key opportunities in 2025. Investors are encouraged to adopt disciplined and diversified strategies to capitalize on market trends while safeguarding against potential risks, such as inflation surprises or shifts in monetary policy. Standard Chartered remains optimistic about Africa and Kenya’s long-term economic potential, emphasizing the importance of sustainable reforms, infrastructure development, and regional cooperation in driving growth.

US mass deportations go nationwide; asylum shut off, army heads for border

It has now become a harsh reality for thousands – perhaps millions – of immigrants in the United States that the pledge to conduct mass deportations was not an empty rhetoric by President Donald Trump.

In just two days after he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, Trump appears set to kickstart US mass deportations. Already, the president of the US has shut down an asylum system that immigrants camping along the southern border were using.

At the same time, Trump’s new government has stated that there is a likelihood that over 10,000 military officers shall be sent to the southern border to ensure that there are no more crossings by immigrants from the Mexican side and into the United States.

According to a related report that appeared in the New York Times, the new government has expanded the authority of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers – popularly known as ICE. As a result, ICE officers shall now be required to quickly remove undocumented immigrants from the country, the New York Times report stated.

Under the new policy that is known as expedited removal, ICE will be able to deport unauthorized immigrants without taking them through court proceedings.

Trump withdraws US from World Health Organization in day one orders

Previously, illegal immigrants who were picked up in the US were given a notice to appear in immigration court where they could make their case to stay in the country. A related report by CBS News stated that previously, federal immigration officials were only allowed to use expedited removal on illegal immigrants who were being detained within 100 miles of an international border and who had been in the US for less than two weeks.

“These expedited deportations will [now] apply to unauthorized immigrants anywhere in the US who can’t prove they have been in the country for more than two years. The move by the Department of Homeland Security revived a first Trump administration policy that the Biden administration had discontinued. It took effect at on Tuesday,” the CBS News reported.
